| Bair's Lodge is considered by many well-traveled anglers to be the best small bonefishing lodge in the Bahamas. This superlative ranking stems from the quality of fishing with Bair's Lodge guides as much as it does from the quality of the accommodations, service and food at the lodge itself. The only downside to Bair's Lodge is that space is limited, due to its popularity among repeat guests, so reservations generally need to be made up to a year in advance. With this in mind, Bair's Lodge has recently added 2 new bedrooms and as of June 1, 2007 is able to accommodate 12 rods. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

| Several years ago, the South Andros bonefishing guides found a way
to travel by skiff from the east side to the west side of South Andros through the protected waters of Little Creek. The single route to the southwest side used to be a weather dependent one hour boat ride down the east coast. Breaching the west side through Little Creek opened up a huge new chunk of bonefishing habitat and reduced the often pounding boat rides down the east side when the wind is up. With some of the least fished flats in the Bahamas and access to the fabled West side of the island, Bair's represents the best in sight fishing for Bahamas bonefish. |

| Bair's Lodge is located between Kemps Bay and Mars Bay, the southernmost
settlements on Andros. The closest airport to Bair's Lodge is Congo Town airport. You can reach it through Nassau
via Western Air, from Ft. Lauderdale via Lynx Air (only operates Saturday, Sunday, and Wednesday) or by private
charter service from Ft. Lauderdale or Nassau. Bair's Lodge is an attractive and comfortable building with good water and power, located 65 feet from the beach/ocean. The bonefish skiffs (17' Rahming Bonefishers with 55 hp Mercury engines and poling platforms) are kept in front of the lodge or at nearby Little Creek. Bair's guests dine on excellent Bahamian cuisine including conch, lobster, grouper and "the catch of the day". The charming house accommodates up to 12 guests in 6 air-conditioned rooms. All of the bedrooms have private baths. Bair's Lodge has a 42" satellite television (and a VCR) and receives the major channels, however, please be aware that TV reception in the Bahamas can be unreliable. |

| The back door opens onto a covered porch which stretches the length
of the guesthouse and overlooks the powdery white sand beach and the ocean beyond. At certain times of the year,
you can see schools of bones migrating right past the house but for the most part, fishing is done in several large
"creeks" south of the camp and the extensive flats along the south end of Andros. Though called creeks,
they are really more like giant, meandering flats systems cutting through the heart of the island, much like the
bights of Andros. Deep Creek is just a ten minute boat ride north of the lodge and Little Creek is approximately 10 minutes to the south. These creeks harbor good numbers of bonefish and some truly big fish (Big Creek has produced 15 pounders). It takes about 45 minutes to go from the East |

| side to the West side through Little Creek. The entire distance you can be fishing bonefish flats. When you reach the West side, you can head north or south to flats that have yet to be charted. The bonefishing on the West side can also be "off the charts". Grassy Creek is further south, a 40 minute boat ride from the Lodge, or if the weather is up, Bair's Lodge will transfer guests 15 minutes by car to a boat launch in Mars Bay where the guides meet them for the final 10 minutes into Dodem Creek (the northern arm of Grassy Creek). Grassy Creek is known for large numbers of unsophisticated fish. Almost every decent presentation is greeted with a take. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

The fish average 3-5 pounds up to 10 pounds. When the weather cooperates,
guests can continue south to Hawksbill Creek and west around Cistern Point at the tip of Andros to access flats
that have probably not seen an angler since the closure of the Grassy Cays Camp (1997), formally operated by the
Bain family and Cargill Creek Lodge. It's a one hour boat ride from Bair's Lodge to Cistern Point on the south end (click here for map). Back up at Deep Creek, the fish are generally warier, and larger. The potential for world records in either creek is real. The guides are reliable and hard working. They'll fish you, nearly nonstop, for 8 hours. Since almost all of the flats are wadable, the guides often get out and walk, drawing you and the boat alongside. |

| There are lots of 'cudas on the flats, many of them over 15 pounds. Pack an extra rod rigged and ready to go for these fish. There are also mutton snapper and reports of permit out on the ocean flats. In addition to flats fishing, there is excellent untapped blue water fishing just a few miles from the beach in front of the lodge in the Tongue of the Ocean. The lodge has a larger boat rigged to tackle this sport, but very rarely gets the call to use it. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
