The mighty Eagle River is born in the wilderness highland lakes of Labrador's Mealy Mountains. A large and brawling river, the Eagle flows through rugged canyons and seemingly impassable falls for 120 rough and tumble miles before emptying into Sandwich Bay on the Sea of Labrador. The laws of natural selection have lead to the evolution a strain of exceptionally strong salmon capable of mounting this difficult journey to the Highland spawning grounds. Many well-traveled anglers consider the Eagle fish the hardest fighting Atlantic salmon in the world.

Over the 20+ years Angler Adventures has booked clients to the Eagle, we've witnessed a remarkable recovery on this great river. While nearly always producing the highest numbers of fish per rod day of all the rivers in eastern Canada, the Eagle was predominantly a grilse river, losing a good percentage of her large multi-sea-winter stock to commercial net operations at the mouth of the river. The massive buyouts of the commercial nets in the 1990's have allowed the stock to rebalance and rebound and the Eagle now produces both exceptional numbers as well as many large salmon over 20 pounds - some over 30.

Pratt Falls Salmon Lodge (formally Goose Bay Outfitters Ltd. and Lower Eagle River Salmon Camp) has hosted salmon anglers since 1968. In 2009, Jelle and Millie sold the camp to local Cartwright fishermen and businessmen, Dwight Lethbridge and Mitch Fong, who've been fishing the Eagle since their childhood. The new owners have done some renovations and upgrades to the lodge facility and the amenities, providing a much higher level of comfort for guests than in years past.

Pratt Falls Salmon Lodge is a modern facility made up of 6 buildings on the south side of the riverbank and each structure offers a spectacular view of famous Eagle Falls, below which is the best holding water on the entire river. Guests stay in one of 4 duplex style cabins. Each cabin features 2 double rooms, each room with it's own wood stove, 2 twin beds, air-conditioning, dressers, closet, and washroom with sink, toilet, and shower. Each cabin also features a screened in porch to seek refuge from mosquitoes and black flies while enjoying the fresh air.

The main lodge houses the lounge, dining and kitchen facilities and is the perfect place for a jovial review of the day's activities. Relax in front of the fireplace or outside on the patio with a spectacular view of the falls. The main lodge also houses the guest dining area, as well as a bar with fridge stocked with plenty of soft drinks and water for guest use.

Pratt Falls Salmon Lodge prides itself in offering guests the modern comforts of home in the Labrador Wilderness. Pratt Falls Salmon Lodge provides generated electricity to the whole camp 24/7; hot and cold running water throughout the camp; access to a Voice over IP Satellite telephone, which is always on for outgoing and incoming calls; wireless Internet connection in the Main Lodge; a handheld Satellite phone for emergencies should the VoIP phone fail; Complimentary insect repellant

Changover day is Friday. Guests fly into Goose Bay on Thursday, and overnight. The following morning, you'll be picked up and driven to the Otter Creek floatplane base for a 45 minute Twin or Turbo Otter float plane flight into camp early on Friday to get a full days fishing. The following Friday, guests leave the lodge. We recommend booking on latest departure from Goose Bay to allow for the vagaries of weather and bush travel.
