Grey's Point Inn is one of our favorite Acklins Island bonefishing lodges. Guests at the fishing lodge enjoy a laid back lodge environment, comfortable accommodations, good food and some of the best bonefish flats for wading in the Bahamas.

Acklins Island represents remote, out-islands Bahamas at its best. There are only 2 flights a week that consistently run late, shortages of gasoline, limited water and unreliable phones. However, the people are among the friendliest we've encountered and the bonefishing guides are experienced and hard working. The flats fished by Grey's Point Inn are spectacularly beautiful and relatively shallow, especially in the appropriately named Lovely Bay.

Nice sized Acklins Bonefish caught at Grey's Point Inn

Acklins bonefish feed in extremely shallow water, especially at low tide, so the fishing at Grey's Point Inn is 99% wading. Grey's Point Inn, therefore, is a great place for the angler interested in the excitement of stalking many goodsized bonefish on foot. Tailing fish can usually be found throughout the day.

Because of Grey's Point Inn's close proximity to the open ocean, guests will usually encounter larger bonefish, averaging roughly 3-5 pounds. Anglers at Grey's Point Inn will also have occasional shots at huge, double-digit bones fresh from deeper water. The club record is 16 pounds.

The bonefish will often form vast schools at high tide and then gradually spread out over the shallow flats, cuts and chanels as the water drops. This makes for extremely diverse, exciting fishing, and offers a great variety of wading experiences, from working drop offs to tip-toeing after tailing bones. Anglers will also cast to the rare permit at Grey's Point Inn, and of course sharks and big cudas can be plentiful. Acklins Island tarpon sightings are rare.

Garon Williamson is the owner of Grey's Point Inn as well as the head guide. He is an expert at spotting bonefish and has a deep understanding of Acklins' diverse fishery. Garon is a tireless wader and pursues every bonefish as if it were his first. There are three other full-time guides under Garon, all with several years guiding experience on Acklins Island.

Grey's is comprised of 6 guest rooms (12 guests) and a main lodge. Each of the guest bedrooms have 2 large double beds, air-conditioning, satellite television, a refrigerator, small desk, and private bath. The main lodge contains the kitchen, dining room, common area, and a game area, which includes a full-sized pool table. Allowing a maximum of 12 anglers at a time ensures that each guest will receive the personal service and the quality fishing experience that Grey's Point Inn is known for offering.

Bonefishing from the skiff at Grey's Point

The food is served Bahamian style. It is very good but not quite gourmet. Menu items feature fresh local ingredients and might include broiled or steamed lobster, fried grouper, roasted chicken or cracked conch. The lodge owners and their staff are friendly, hard working, courteous people who are punctual and a pleasure to be around.

Grey's Point owns and operates six modern flats boats. Boat rides to bonefishing flats are minimal, typically 5-15 minutes. Lovely Bay is about 30 minutes from the lodge. Bonefish around Grey's Point are not bashful despite the extremely shallow water in which they generally feed, nor are they picky eaters. Fly selection is much less important than presentation on these flats. We do, however, recommend bringing a good supply of Bunny Bones for the skinny water around Grey's Point. See Angler Adventures
