Jim Turner recently opened the new Casa Vieja Lodge, located less than one mile from the marina. Casa Vieja currently has 10 bedrooms but Jim is currently adding on several more. Casa Vieja enjoys exclusive use of the 39-foot Merritt, Release, skippered by Captain Chris Sheeder and recently purchased the 43-foot Merritt, Nany. Other boats fishing exclusively under the Casa Vieja flag this season are: Cañaso (37-foot Daytona skippered by Captain Jason Brice), Intensity (37-foot Gamefisherman skippered by Captain Michael Sheeder), Pelagian (37-foot Rybovich skippered by Captain Eric Lorentzen, and Spindrift (38-foot Stolper skippered by Captain David Salazar). The great Captain Nicho Alvarengo is now on board at Casa Vieja as well.

Casa Vieja is currently the nicest of the 3 facilities we represent in Guatamala, and also has the highest percentage of American captains and English-speaking crew. Casa Vieja Lodge offers a waterfront view, full service bar, pool, and lovely, landscaped grounds. Rooms are air conditioned and have satellite televisions and sliding doors leading to the pool and patio.

At Casa Vieja, Sailfish are abundant year round and the fleet has averaged raising more than 20 billfish per day per boat - YEAR ROUND! Casa Vieja's records show 40 plus sailfish release days have been experienced in every month of the year. Days with finicky or non-aggressive feeders are few and far between! The larger sailfish up to 150 pounds are usually taken during the Fall, but for pure volume of 80 - 100 pound fish, December through June tends to be the rule. During this time you'll be tantalized with 20 - 40 bites per day and, on some of those exceptional days, more than 100! If you like to play the numbers, while targeting sailfish, Casa Vieja boats usually encounter a marlin about every third day during the year, however more can be seen by requesting a strictly marlin venture!

Casa Vieja has lots of football size tuna and dolphin in the 20 - 40 pound range and impressive sized roosterfish are plentiful along the coastline within minutes of the docks. A day of inshore fishing can be an excellent way to round off your trip.
