Coyhaique River Lodge
Chilean Patagonia trout program with diverse river options, guide-first planning, and modern lodge comfort.
Updated on
Coyhaique River Lodge sits in the heart of Chilean Patagonia, just outside Coyhaique in the Aysén region. For anglers who want variety from one comfortable base, this program is hard to beat: classic freestone rivers, spring-creek style options, stillwaters, and enough fishable water in the greater Coyhaique zone to keep a full week packed with opportunity.
The lodge is built around a guide-first operation led by owners who know these waters intimately. Each evening, the team reviews conditions and maps the next day so your fishing matches weather, flow, and what you actually want from the trip. That planning rhythm is one of the reasons this operation is so consistent for serious traveling anglers.

The Fishing
Coyhaique River Lodge runs an all-inclusive 7-night / 6-day guided program built around two anglers per guide and daily water selection. The strength of this operation is range: instead of repeating one beat, guides rotate anglers through different river systems based on weather, water, and the style of fishing you want each day.
The broader Coyhaique network includes well-known waters such as the Simpson, Ñirehuao, Paloma, and Manihuales systems, along with smaller options and private-access venues that can deliver very different fishing feels in the same week. Mid-season often rewards dry/dropper and surface-driven approaches; shoulder periods can call for streamers and deeper presentations.
If your priority is diversity rather than repeating one river all week, this is exactly the type of Chile program we like to build around.
A Typical Fishing Week
Most itineraries follow a clean Saturday-to-Saturday flow: arrive Balmaceda and transfer to the lodge, fish Sunday through Friday with daily guided plans, then transfer back to Balmaceda for departure. That structure keeps logistics simple and maximizes fishable days while still allowing enough flexibility for weather pivots or preferred water requests during the week.

Accommodations & Services
The lodge itself is modern, spacious, and designed for anglers to recover well between long fishing days. Expect comfortable rooms, strong food, and a service culture centered on making each day on the water productive and low-friction.
Many guests combine Coyhaique with additional Chile or Argentina days. If that is your plan, we can map flights, transfer timing, and sequence so the overall itinerary flows cleanly.
