The Turneffe Islands, located 30 miles off the coast of Belize, provide
some of the world's best wadeable flats fishing. When you visit this beautiful island you are guaranteed privacy. Lovely white sand beach surrounds you, just steps from your private room. Turneffe Flats Lodge is a small resort located on the northern section of the Turneffe Atoll. There are 8 newly renovated, centrally air-conditioned, double occupancy cabins, in addition to the new dining rooms and main lodge, which also serves as the social center. |
| Clear, pristine flats are located close to the lodge. There are few
better places for wading the flats in pursuit of bonefish and permit. Mile upon mile of ankle deep flats lie between
the Turneffe Islands and the surrounding reef. Composed of hard sand, coral and eel grass, nearly all these flats are wadable, and provide an excellent opportunity to stalk fish on foot. Schools of 25 tailing bonefish are common against a background of palm studded mangrove islands and crashing white surf. Tailing permit sometimes appear on the high tide. Tarpon are available in mangrove creeks from approximately mid-May through December with the peak tarpon fishing occurring June, July, and August. Excellent reef fishing is available year round. |

In addition to the well established fishing program, Turneffe Flats
Lodge offers a fully accredited dive program. The most spectacular dive sites in Belize - Lighthouse Reef, Blue
Hole, Glover's Reef and Half Moon Caye - are all within an hour's ride by boat. Excellent snorkeling / diving is
also available right near the lodge. The lodge offers dive packages and fishing packages. Guests may also divide time between these two activities, fishing one day and diving the next. Turneffe Flats also offers Non-Activity Packages and Atoll Packages. The Atoll Package includes activities such as guided snorkeling and various wildlife tours. Please refer to the rate sheet below for an explanation of rates and activities. In an effort not to overpressure the wading/ocean flats, Turneffe Flats has imposed a new angling regiment. Anglers will fish a maximum of four days per week on the ocean side flats, and a minimum of two days in other areas. The other areas provide a multitude of fishing opportunities, including bonefishing on the inner flats (often to larger fish), most of the permit flats, all of the tarpon areas, and most of the barracuda fishing, and surf casting for snapper, jacks, etc. |
